                Isaev celebrates golden win

LONDON, July 30 (Reuters) - Russia's Mansur Isaevwon the men's -73kg category on Monday, taking the second gold medal for his country in judo in a matter of days.



Fourth seed Isaev, 25, came out on top in a fast and furious fight with Japan's Riki Nakaya.

He deserved gold after beating Nakaya, the world number two, and reaching the final by overcoming South Korea's Ki-Chun Wang, the world number one and silver medal winner in Beijing.

He emulated the success of countryman Arsen Galstyan on Saturday who had won Russia's first judo gold since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Mongolia's Nyam-Ochir Sainjargal took bronze by beating Dutchman Dex Elmont whose brother Guillaume will compete in the -81 kg section on Tuesday. (BELOW)

It means Mongolia have now won judo medals at every games since Athens in 2004.

France's Ugo Legrand defeated Wang to win the other bronze, his country's third judo bronze medal in London, and received a standing ovation from watching French President Francois Hollande, who greeted him enthusiastically after his win.

            Matsumoto Kaori of Japan takes gold in the -57 kg class

Matsumoto dedicated Japan's first Judo gold of the Games to her team-mates Tomoko Fukumi and Misato Nakamura.

Mansur Isaev of Russia takes gold in the men's -73 kg

She said: 'I am so very happy to be able to get gold on behalf of my colleagues.

'There was pressure, but I did what I wanted to do along the way which helped me to win the medal.

'I had a strong feeling to win, told myself to calm down, focus and not to give up.

'Fukumi had told me to go for it and Nakamura that I would get the first gold medal for Japan.'

Caprioriu was penalised for trying to hold Matsumoto's leg to flip over the Japanese.

Defeated semi-finalist Marti Malloy won the bronze medal after defeating defending Olympic champion Giulia Quintavalle from Italy.

USA's Malloy sealed the fate of the match within a short span of time by pinning Quintavalle on her back to score an Ippon.  (BELOW)

The second bronze medal was bagged by Automne Pavia from France after she defeated Hedvig Karakas by a swift leg sweep which resulted in the Hungarian's fall.

Pavia climbed down to hug her coach before greeting French President Francois Hollande.

Automne Pavia of France took home the other bronze.
