Judokas spreading the way.
Kohn nee chi wah Judoka san,
I would like to talk to Judoka/Budoka who consider our disciplines much more than 'fighting'. Of course it is thrilling to have medals and trophies as tangible proof of your abilities (I have about 126 of them), but I'm talking about the intangible assets acquired in our discipline, such as tranquility, dexterity, control, ability to walk a mile in another's shoes, thinking ahead as well spur of the moment, tempering your temper as well as the most important attribute...discipline. I am 80 years old and still teach and would appreciate folks who remember when we went to tournaments and had matches instead of 'fights' and a beer with our opponents instead bragging how 'easy' he was to beat. We even showed him how we beat him in friendly comradeship utilizing real Budo training, taught to us by a Mr. Miyagi Sensei rather than a bully/hero type of Sensei. Hope to make friends and hear from you soon.
